Geeks like to think that they can ignore
politics, you can leave politics alone,
but politics won't leave you alone.

Our Guiding Principles

The following are the principles which guide us during the conception of a framework for sharing the information resources between cultural heritage organisations:

Federated Architecture
We favor a system made up of independent and decentralized structures which work first for themselves – i.e., for all partners – but then also interact as necessary in a larger context.
Building with Modules
We favor a modularized approach in our system architecture – that is, small self-contained building blocks instead of one giant super-program – we can introduce updates without breaking the system.
Observing the KISS principle
We observe the KISS principle – for Keep It Simple, Stupid. Keeping software decidedly simple, we can ensure that it is easy to maintain and adapt, now and in the future.
Keeping with Free Software
We try to use Free Software exclusively. Only Free Software can give us the security that no one, not even we ourselves, gets trapped in a vendor locking mechnism, and that participation will be free for everyone.
